London, November 6th 2017. – Evening Standard is reporting that U2 will play a free gig for up to 7,000 people in Trafalgar Square, London this week as part of their being honored with a global icon award by MTV Europe. Part of the show will then be broadcast with the MTV Europe Music Awards the following night.
There are two separate ballots for access to free tickets – a public ballot being held by MTV and a separate U2.com members-only ballot. U2.com members are receiving emails inviting them to apply for their free ticket through u2.com. No word on how many of the 7,000 tickets are reserved for u2.com members. Some members have reported missing out on the email as some email servers are routing it to “social” folders or “junk” folders so remember to check your spam if you are a U2.com member living in the London area.
